Our Sheep

Lamb
Our sheep are crosses between Katahdin and Dorper. These are both meat breeds of sheep. Unlike your classic(wool) sheep breed though, they have been bred to have "hair." This way they do not need to be sheared. Hair sheep also do not produce the compound Lanolin that wool sheep do. Therefore, meat from hair sheep does not taste as gamey as wool sheep.
Our sheep are bred when they are a year old. They have a five month pregnancy and tend to have twins or triplets. They are raised on pasture. The breed we use are processed for meat at about 125lbs, and fed grain the last 60 days to increase marbling and add flavor.
